The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has declared 1,000 vacancies for internships under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4. According to a Tuesday announcement in My Gov issue by the Public Service Commission, selected interns will be assigned to schools at the sub-county level.
The commission emphasized that these interns will not only gain hands-on experience and expertise but will also provide essential support for virtual learning platforms and digital educational tools.
Applicants must be recent graduates (2020 or later) holding either a Bachelor’s degree in Education with ICT specialization or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT. Alternative qualifications include a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from an accredited institution. Candidates should possess expertise in networking, infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and project management.
Essential skills include the ability to merge ICT with educational practices, particularly in e-learning and educational content creation, along with research and innovation capabilities to advance the Digital Literacy Programme. Applicants must be prepared for full-time deployment to any sub-county education office.
The internship responsibilities encompass supporting e-learning initiatives and content creation aligned with curriculum frameworks, providing classroom assistance, and training elementary school educators on digital learning tools. Additional duties include advancing the Digital Learning Programme implementation, developing technological innovations for schools, and ensuring safe and ethical technology use in educational settings.
Interns will also help teachers incorporate ICT into instruction and assessment, assist in creating school technology policies, and provide basic ICT support and maintenance services.
The 12-month program offers government-determined stipend compensation, with participants receiving a certificate from the State Department for Basic Education upon completion.
Applications must be submitted online through the Public Service Commission’s portals (www.publicservice.go.ke, www.psckjobs.go.ke, or www.pscims.publicservice.go.ke/jobs) by June 23, 2025.
